I've tried all the instructions from Directv, but still getting the black screen after the channel banner goes away. It downloaded the new software and I've reset it several times, including leaving it unplugged for a minute or so. Any suggestions before I call a tech out to the house?
I'm trying to connect a pioneer dvd recorder to record shows from my series 2 tivo, but I can't figure it out & the schematic from the dvd manual isn't real helpful. The dvd & my tv both have front inputs, if there are any shortcuts using those. If anyone has a schematic, to go along with any written directions, that would be helpful.
I would like to save some CNN special programs on DVD. First of all, is this software legal? and if it is, then what are the possibilities that I can record some programs on DVD by burning from computer.?
Recording of fast moving sport on Samsung DVD recorder poor quality. Picture breaks into squares if fast moving. Recording in digital via Set top box. Picture ok while watching live on TV but poor quality when watching the dvd recording both on plasma and LCD. Samsung rep said may be reception but reception ok when watching live TV.

We just got a DVR -- my husband wants to record a show at 8 and so do I. But I also want to watch a different show.....I know this is impossible. We have another TV -- if we got another box (this is cable) -- can we THEN record in the other room and keep is separate or will it all read as though 2 shows are already recording???
can you burn a dvd like you can burn cds? and if you can, is there anything extra you have to do?
I'm looking for a simple DVR solution with no monthly service charge, decent sized hard drive, and DVD player (but *not* recorder). I don't need to pause/record live TV, or have any programs suggested to me. Just need to store my programs on a hard drive until I'm done with them... My Panasonic DVR just died, and althout it was around $500 when I bought it years ago, it also burned DVDs--a feature I don't want if it can drive the price down to the $200 range (what your average VCR used to go for).
